No more so is this evident than in the termination of three managers contracts this season.

First was the sacking of a potential ‘one for the future’ – a passionate English manager, Paul Ince. He was given just 17 games at the top of Blackburn before being replaced.

In recent days two more big name sackings have hit the headlines; Tony Adams was removed from office just hours after his side were narrowly defeated after a real gritty performance against quality opposition. This occurred just 16 games into his time at the helm of Portsmouth.

Finally, and perhaps more shocking than the others, is the departure of world cup winning Luiz Felipe Scolari. Big Phil was deemed surplus to requirements early this week and speculation now revolves around his replacecment.

However, in all all of these cases is it not the under-performing, overpaid, prima donna ‘superstar’ players that should be made take stock of their performance to date. Is it not the 11 men on the field that hold and shape the destiny and outcome of a match. Sure, a manager can motivate, train, coach and work his tactical nouse to his team’s advantage but at the end of the day it’s the players that can have the final say.

Similarly, it seems that the players are the ones who hold the power over the managers; a few dodgy decisions or bad results and the players start to moan and go above the managers; loyalty eh?!

It’s not all bad for the dearly departed, though, I’m sure Scolari’s estimated pay off somewhere in the region of £8-£15million will comfort him.

But look at successful clubs who have produced title winning, cup winning sides year in year out. Arsenal, Man Utd. Both managers have become synonymous with their clubs. Neither manager was an instant success, but given time they’ve both forged great squads and world class teams.

It seems that money is causing Boards and Clubs to want results and want them now.

I can’t help but wonder where football will be a few months or a couple of years down the line. Managers with potential will have so many black marks against their name that no one will touch them, while the established managers will be out of financial reach of all but the Man City’s and Chelsea’s of the world.

A bit of snow and Britain goes mad!

Following on from the Natural Confectionery ads and my earlier post on Honda’s “Difficult Is Worth Doing” campaign is the above ad; Life Is For Sharing.

Filmed at Liverpool Street Station it shows a mass of people dancing along to a series of tracks coming from the PA with more ‘commuters’ soon joing in!

Again, the (supposed) spontaneity, the the unconventional feel and the wow factor really grab the audiences attention.

What’s going to be the next brand to utilise new and ever expanding creative forms of advertising?

Having studied Advertising during my degree I find that I’m obsessed with new styles of adverts, catchy ad campaigns, and groundbreaking new stuff.

This perhaps explains my fascination with the Natural Confectionery Company adverts.

I know it was a long time ago now but the ad above still impresses me whenever I think of it.

A live ad filmed in a 3 minute slot showing a skydive is risky business but it looks awesome and is sure to set a precedent.

Something which has sparked my creative side alight recently is Reverse Graffiti.

“No paint. No defacing. Moose makes his art by cleaning; removing the ills of dirt and pollution by de-defacing- wiping away dirt into large type and shapes, leaving nothing behind but a beautiful work of “green art.”"

I reckon we’ve all indulged in a spot of Reverse Graffiti before; remember the time you scrawled “CLEAN ME” into the grime of a white van? Or when you wrote your name into the window of the smog encrusted bus window? Well Moose takes this concept a little further and what started out as a bit of a laugh has became a lifestyle. He can be found anywhere from tunnels in San Fransisco creating masterpieces, to the streets of London carrying out commissioned advertising work.

My absence has been somewhat unexplained but I’ll put it down to a few things;

I’ve been busy moving house & planning my wedding,

I’ve been working on a project for Jesmond Old Cemetery,

I’ve been a bit lazy.

The usual stuff.

But I’m back and keen to build up the RamblingMan readership once again. You’ll notice a new design and some new post themes emerging.

Whilst reading a great blog, environmentalgraffiti, I was alerted to this ethereal, enchanting, and eye-catching sculpture type thing . . .

It’s meant to ‘reflect’ the notion of transparency and is made French artist Michel de Broin. He fixed fragments of mirror to the unruly contours of a large rock in the middle of Vosges forest.

If you’ve read my piece over there (>>>) on Art then you’ll know that me feelings on the subject are a little mixed. However, this encapsulates what I think of as good, thought-provoking, inspiring art.

Some might say it looks a little like a spacecraft hovering in the woods, but I think it’s a damn good ‘installation’.

This is the most Monty-Python-esque of the current series of ads and seems to draw on classic British, dry humour – I just love it!
